How to Prep for Laser Hair Removal

You’re going to love your laser hair treatment at Cabelo but first, we’d like to take the time to address some of the common questions our clients often ask. Cabelo Hair Company always begins with a complimentary consultation before your laser treatment is performed to best meet your unique needs. Here’s a short list of things to keep in mind in the days leading up to your treatment:

  • Arrive at your appointment with clean skin on the area to be treated. Do not apply makeup, creams, oils, deodorant to the area to be treated.
  • The area to be treated must be clean-shaven 24-hours before your appointment. Unshaven clients will need to be rescheduled.
  • Avoid UV exposure 7 days prior to your treatment. Clients who are sunburned must wait 2 weeks before being treated to avoid additional skin damage.
  • Avoid sunless tanning products 7 days prior to your treatment. It is recommended that you exfoliate the area to remove any residual colour.
  • Refrain from waxing, tweezing, threading, sugaring or chemical epilation for hair removal 6 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements, due to increased risk of bleeding.

Post Treatment

  • Don’t pluck or wax any hair on the region that was treated to avoid disrupting the procedure.
  • Gently exfoliate the area after redness subsides — continue for one or two weeks following your appointment.
  • Avoid exposing the region to hot temperatures and avoid baths for two days following the treatment.
  • If you experience any discolouration to the treatment area, apply vitamin E topical ointment to the skin.
  • Don’t apply deodorants, heavy makeup, cosmetics or chemical skin creams to your skin for at least two days.
  • Don’t scratch or scrape the area, as the skin is can be very sensitive following treatment.
